Klaw by Pascal Blanché | The Dual Nature of the Space Ravager

Klaw, the space ravager. Original art statue by Pascal Blanché
Klaw's escape pod crashes on Derelict Planet. He walks out of the wreck, and something from the depths of the planet finds him.
It gives him a gift: a surge of knowledge and power, and one of his hands transformed into a mutated claw. It is the moment Klaw's story turns, and two sides of the character emerge.
The Dual Nature of Klaw

Klaw in the regular configuration (left) and the Blademaster configuration (right)
The mechanical hand is Klaw before the transformation. It belongs to the space ravager who survives through force, instinct and whatever equipment he can modify himself, armed with his rifle, his armor scarred by battle.
The mutated claw tells a different story. It is the mark of what happened on Derelict Planet, when an unknown force took hold of Klaw and remade his own flesh into a weapon no scavenger could ever build. With the double-bladed sword in hand, he becomes the Blademaster.
The two configurations give you two distinct versions of the same character. Choose the one that belongs on your shelf, or switch between them over time.
Because the pieces are interchangeable, you are not limited to Pascal's original pairings. The hands and weapons can be mixed and matched to create a configuration of your own.
The extra parts have their own display base, designed as a standalone composition rather than a place to store what is not in use. Even off the statue, they remain part of Klaw's story.

Armor Built in the Field
Nothing on Klaw looks like it came from a factory.
Crude welding seams run across the armor, the marks of repairs and upgrades made far from any workshop. Out in deep space, a scavenger works with whatever he can find, and every piece of his gear shows it.
His weapons are his own modifications, rough around the edges and built to hold up in a fight. They do.
The visor carries a nod to the scouter from Dragon Ball Z, a detail Pascal built into the design for anyone who grew up with it.

One Crash, Three Perspectives
Pascal's intro stories for Moonstone, Jaak and Klaw tell connected events from different points of view. Together, they follow one escape pod from the sky to the ground.
Moonstone came first. In her story, something falls from the sky and strikes the surface of the planet. Collectors saw it land before they knew where it came from or who was inside. Jaak's story takes us back a moment, to the pod tearing across the sky just before impact. Klaw finally shows us who came crashing down: the space ravager himself, fresh out of prison. And somewhere on the same planet, The Oracle is still watching.
The Launch Video
Klaw opened for preorder on October 2, 2020, with a launch video shot on a practical set.
Klaw stands on the dark surface of Derelict Planet, surrounded by rocks from the Jaak set that were repainted to fit his world. The set was pushed darker than Jaak's, then filled with smoke to give the planet a colder, more hostile atmosphere.
The video was produced by Charleswood Films, a local studio that supported House of Gog in our early days. Klaw was our third project together.
The music is Pull Up by Soda. We chose it because it was dark, catchy and fit Klaw. It was also trending on TikTok at the time, appearing behind countless videos, but that was a bonus.
We reached out to Soda on Instagram. He has since become a friend of House of Gog, and he owns a Klaw himself.

Welcome Home

KLAW - DERELICT PLANET - 005/005. Art and story by Pascal Blanché
A walking figure emerges from the crash site to be overwhelmed by a surge of profound knowledge and power.
A dark and cold whisper is carried by the sandy winds:
“Welcome home Klaw”
As his name is spoken, he looks at his mutating hand. A faint grin creases the warrior’s face.
