Nchanzplace: The Art of Capturing Moments

House of Gog takes pride in celebrating not just art, but the passionate minds who breathe life into it. One such creative soul is Nchanzplace, a Singapore-based collector and photographer who has mastered the art of transforming static masterpieces into dynamic visual stories. With a sharp focus on capturing the invisible moments with his limitless imagination, Nchanzplace represents the perfect intersection of pop culture, art and photography.

A Lifelong Love Affair with Art & Collectibles

For Nchanzplace, art is not just a hobby—it is a lifelong passion. Growing up in a household that actively nurtured a love for creativity and pop culture, art was always present. The walls of the home were not merely adorned with art; they served as a constant reminder of the power of self-expression and imagination. It was in this environment that Nchanzplace developed an enduring fascination with the creative world.

With pop culture as a constant influence, the foundation for a deep connection with art was laid early on. But Nchanzplace’s journey didn’t stop at appreciating art—it evolved into an exploration of how art could be experienced in a more interactive and personal way. This drive eventually led to a fusion of passion for collecting and creating, a combination that has come to define Nchanzplace’s work.

A Passion for Collecting: The Beginning of a Journey

In 2014, Nchanzplace took a significant step into the world of premium collectibles. This decision wasn’t just about owning rare items; it was about immersing in the rich stories and craftsmanship behind each piece. For Nchanzplace, collecting was never about the physical objects alone—it was about the deeper connection each collectible represented. The carefully sculpted figures, meticulously painted statues and limited-edition items all carried with them a world of stories, characters and emotions.

But as any true collector knows, owning a piece is not enough. To truly experience a collectible, it must be brought to life. For Nchanzplace, this realization sparked the next phase of the journey—capturing these stories through photography and videography. What started as a collection quickly evolved into an artistic exploration of how to reimagine these pieces, transforming them from static objects into dynamic visual narratives.

Reimagining the Stories Through the Lens

Photography became a crucial tool for Nchanzplace, allowing for a deeper connection to the art. Through the lens, each collectible was given new life, new meaning. Photography and videography were no longer just about taking pictures; they were about capturing the invisible moments that breathed life into the figures. Every shot, every angle, and every lighting setup was carefully crafted to tell a story, to evoke emotion, and to reimagine the characters and worlds these collectibles represented.

Nchanzplace’s photography style blends creativity with technical prowess and the results speak for themselves. Each photograph is not just an image; it’s a narrative - a visual representation of the limitless imagination that these pieces inspire.

The Gear Behind the Vision

To achieve the level of detail and impact that defines Nchanzplace’s work, top-tier camera gear is essential. Nchanzplace relies on a Canon R5 to capture every shot with precision and clarity, paired with the Canon RF 85mm f1.2L for stunning portraits and the Canon RF 15-35mm f2.8L for wider shots that capture more of the scene. Additionally, the DJI OSMO Pocket 3 is a valuable tool for dynamic videography, allowing for smooth, cinematic shots even in tight spaces.

Lighting is also key to Nchanzplace’s ability to capture the full essence of each collectible. With a range of professional lighting tools, including the Godox SL150ii and Godox AD300, every piece is carefully illuminated to highlight the smallest details. Portable LED lights and vertical LED lights allow for flexible positioning and creative lighting setups, while a large circular reflector/diffuser and a Phottix Circular Softbox 80cm ensure that the lighting is soft, natural, and flattering.
